SEOUL, May 15 (Korea Bizwire) — A major South Korean oil refiner will enter the vehicle management service platform business in partnership with companies already leading the industry.
SK Energy Co., South Korea’s leading oil refinery and gas station operator, formed a partnership with six service companies specializing in car washing and parking on Thursday at SK Group headquarters in central Seoul.
The company has already announced that it will shift its business structure to a “digital and eco-friendly” center to overcome the limitations of its flagship oil business, which is susceptible to extreme fluctuations due to its vulnerability to various external variables such as oil prices.
The company explained that the vehicle management service platform business was embodied in the digital conversion policy.
Along with its affiliates, SK Energy plans to first develop services such as car washes and parking on the vehicle management service platform and expand its field to include a new car brokerage and charging services for electric vehicles.
“The online-based offline service market is rapidly expanding due to the coronavirus outbreak and mobile popularization,” a company official said.
“We will also co-exist with professional companies while providing vehicle management services that customers can trust and use easily.”
