DAEJEON, March 25 (Korea Bizwire) — The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) said it will launch a trial of an artificial intelligence (AI) technology-based patent search system for its examiners on Friday.
This service, developed in collaboration with Kakao Enterprise, can contribute to shortening the search time and improving the quality of examination by using preceding technology data, recommended by AI, for patent examination.
To develop this system, the KIPO used 5 million records of patent documents as learning data.
In addition, the service offers greatly enhanced accuracy by using not only keywords but also the intrinsic information of patent documents, including the core sentences and Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC) that are deduced by AI.
The KIPO plans to focus on improving the system to realize an optimal performance on the basis of feedback from examiners this year, and shift it into a formal service next year.
In the meantime, it launched an AI-based search service last year by applying AI technology in figurative mark search and design examination.
