SEOUL, Feb. 22 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean rapper Psy‘s “Gentleman” video has been viewed more than 800 million times on YouTube, his management agency said Sunday.
YG Entertainment posted the news on the singer’s Facebook Page and Twitter earlier in the day.
The 2013 sequel to the viral hit “Gangnam Style,” which catapulted him to global stardom, features Psy sporting his signature sunglasses and acting rather ungentlemanly toward women.
The video garnered local attention for Psy’s reinterpretation of the so-called “arrogant dance,” which was first showcased by South Korean girl group Brown Eyed Girls.
“Gangnam Style” is still going strong with 2.24 billion views, its YouTube page showed. Its threequel, “Hangover,” which features Psy’s drunken escapade with American rapper Snoop Dog, is also nearing its 200 million view mark, YG Entertainment said.
