Pyeongchang Trout Festival Kicks Off December 22

PYEONGCHANG, Dec. 4 (Korea Bizwire)The Pyeongchang Trout Festival will begin on December 22, and will continue until January 27 next year in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province.

Pyeongchang County Office and the Pyeongchang Trout Festival Committee are now in the final stages of preparation as the festival approaches.

The festival has set up ice fishing zones that will be able to accommodate as many as 5,000 people.

The popular ‘Catching Trout with Bare Hands’ program, which will give out 400 grams of gold this year, will be held indoors for the first time for the convenience of the challengers as well as onlookers.

The festival will also open sledge parks as well as ice rinks for children. Other facilities will include indoor food courts and performance stages with a variety of events for visitors.

“The Olympic city of Pyeongchang is working with both the public and private sectors to hold a successful trout festival,” said Han Wang-gi, mayor of Pyeongchang.

“We will make sure that visitors can fully enjoy Pyeongchang’s beautiful winter.”
