INJE, Jan. 31 (Korea Bizwire) — Hundreds of military officials have enjoyed Inje’s famous ice fishing festival this year.
The Inje Icefish Festival, which attracted over 230,000 visitors over the first weekend, has welcomed nearly 2,000 serving members of the military this week, as part of efforts to thank the armed forces.
From ‘human curling’ to ‘dodge ball’, a number of sports programs were provided for military personnel to let loose, with teams of six competing in a total of 62 tournaments for a cash prize of 13 million won given to the top three players.
“The participation of the military is helping boost the event. I hope the winter festival gives members of the military a time to take a break from tough training and sit back and relax for a bit,” an Inje county official said.
In addition to winter sports matches, service members also took part in smelt fishing and enjoyed eating the tasty fish.
