CHANGWON, Jan. 26 (Korea Bizwire) — South Gyeongsang Province said Monday that it will provide free mediation service for residents suffering from apartment noise.
With a simple phone call, the mediation service will arbitrate in a dispute related to apartment noise within seven days to draw up a resolution, regardless of the type of noise or legal complexities.
Last year, the coronavirus pandemic led to a surge in the number of disputes related to apartment noise as more people stayed at home.
In response, the province introduced the Apartment Noise Zero Service last year, which underwent a pilot project in November in preparation for this year’s official launch.
Anyone can register by phone or the internet at the apartment management office, after which a phone consultation will take place before agents are sent to the field to run field diagnostics and carry out the mediation process.
If mediation fails, a separate team of investigators will be sent to collect objective data and file for an environmental dispute adjustment.
The Apartment Noise Zero Package offered by the province includes ‘noise reduction slippers’ and ‘attachable noise reduction pads,’ designed to reduce noise caused by footsteps and moving furniture.
