SEOUL, Aug. 10 (Korea Bizwire)The documentation that chronicles the process of green development in post-war South Korea’s ruins is set to be submitted for inclusion in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register.

The Korean National Commission for UNESCO on Thursday designated the government’s official reforestation records as the next submission candidate for the UNESCO list, according to the Cultural Heritage Administration.

These records detail the journey of South Korea’s reforestation endeavors in the aftermath of the 1950-53 Korean War, achieved through a synergy of private-public collaboration.

Encompassing 9,619 entries, these records comprise a diverse array of public documents, photographs, advertisements, and stamps, all crafted with the singular aim of rehabilitating the nation’s landscapes.

The focus lay on planting and nurturing trees within mountainous regions, all while ensuring their safeguarding.
