The day kicks off with 1,014 buses arriving from across the nation, entrusted with transporting 37,000 scouts to Seoul due to the World Scouting Federation’s early evacuation decision.
Efficient logistics rule the day. As dawn breaks, crews dismantle tents, transforming the site into a lush green space. Some scouts prepare for buses, while others seek solace in misty vine tunnels.
Emotions among participants are diverse: exhaustion from heat, regret over the day’s end, and excitement for upcoming programs, evident in heart-drawn fingers. “I’m very sad,” an Austrian scout murmurs, packing a tall backpack. A Mexican participant laments missed friendship opportunities yet cherishes rich experiences.
Typhoon No. 6′s approach ends the jamboree. Taiwanese participants lead the exodus at 9 a.m., followed by a convoy of chartered buses, resembling a migratory spectacle from above. Despite challenges, 680 buses (67.2%) exit by 4 p.m., an extraordinary feat.
