SEOUL, Aug. 14 (Korea Bizwire) – South Korean tech giants Samsung Display and LG Display are set to showcase their cutting-edge display technologies at the country’s largest display exhibition, offering a glimpse into the future of screens.
The K-Display 2024 exhibition, running for three days from August 14 at COEX in Seoul’s Gangnam district, will feature a range of innovative products from both companies, highlighting advancements in foldable and large-scale OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) technologies.
Samsung Display is introducing its Flex In & Out display, a flip-type foldable screen that can bend 360 degrees. The company is also presenting the Flex S, which folds twice both inward and outward, and the Flex Hybrid, which combines foldable and slidable technologies.
These multi-foldable OLED displays will demonstrate AI-powered interfaces that leverage the unique expandability and variability of foldable screens.
Visitors to Samsung’s exhibit will have the opportunity to experience a future where AI is integrated into everyday life through foldable and slidable OLEDs. They can generate AI images on split screens, perform AI searches, and edit social media content on tri-fold displays.
In a concept called Round Lab, Samsung will showcase various products incorporating the world’s first circular OLED, developed by the company.
This exhibit aims to illustrate a future where AI-connected electronic devices exchange information seamlessly.
Samsung is also unveiling several OLED concept products for the first time in Korea, including a smart key with a 1.5-inch circular OLED, smart headphones, a smartwatch with a 6.2-inch flexible OLED “cling band,” and a smart speaker featuring a 7.6-inch flexible OLED.
A Samsung Display representative stated, “We will exhibit innovative technologies like AI, which will create new opportunities for the display industry. We have prepared various hands-on programs for visitors to directly experience these technologies.”
LG Display, meanwhile, is focusing on large-format and automotive OLED innovations. The company is exhibiting an 83-inch OLED TV panel, boasting a peak brightness of 3,000 nits — approximately 42% brighter than previous models and currently the brightest OLED TV panel in existence.
For automotive displays, LG is introducing its Advanced Thin OLED (ATO) technology, which is 20% thinner than conventional glass-based OLEDs while offering sleek design, ultra-high definition, and competitive pricing.
The company is also showcasing an 18-inch slidable OLED for vehicles and high-end IT LCD panels.
An LG Display spokesperson emphasized the company’s commitment to continually introducing innovative products that provide differentiated customer value in terms of image quality, design, and eco-friendliness, leveraging industry-leading proprietary OLED technology.
