SEOUL, March 2 (Korea Bizwire) – South Korea’s top tech firm Samsung Electronics Co. said Wednesday it has joined forces with U.S. commerce giant Amazon.com Inc. to apply Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology to its printers.
Users of Samsung-made printers in the United States can set their products to automatically order ink using a mobile app that connects to Amazon.com. Samsung did not specify whether the service will be launched in other countries as well.
Samsung has been working toward adopting IoT-related services for its products. IoT is a concept in which all tangible objects are connected to the Internet and can identify themselves to other devices in order to exchange necessary data for improved efficiency and convenience.
Samsung added that it will continue to bolster compatibility among mobile products and other electronics as part of its “device convergence” drive, delivering a more efficient experience to users.’
