SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics Co. said Friday it has opened a fine dust research center to find technological solutions to counter the environmental and health threats it poses.
The company said the new center, operated by Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, will focus on carrying out research on fine dust particles. The dust has recently emerged as a major health concern for South Koreans.
“As the fine dust issue is directly linked to the health of South Koreans, the center aims to lend support to finding solutions to this social problem by allocating the company’s innovative research capabilities (to it),” Samsung said. It stressed that it is part of a long-term vision to contribute to society
The center will gather related data and analyze fine dust to find its origin and come up with viable solutions.
Samsung said it plans to roll out what it calls its Open Innovation program and invite experts from various fields ranging from chemistry to biology to carry out broad research into the subject.
