SEOUL, March 30 (Korea Bizwire) - Samsung Electronics Co. said Wednesday it has launched a new refrigerator in South Korea which uses Internet-of-Things (IoT) technologies.
The Family Hub refrigerator, first showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, is equipped with a 21.5-inch Full HD touch screen that allows users to follow-up on various conditions of the refrigerator.
With three cameras installed inside, users can also check the foodstuffs stored in the refrigerators through a smartphone application. Users can also order ingredients needed for recipes through the Family Hub.
The 850-liter Family Hub refrigerator comes with a price tag of 6.49 million (US$5,627).
The touch screen can also display photos shared from smartphones, and users can also communicate with other family members through notes and voice recordings. It also links to televisions to deliver content on air.
Samsung Electronics said it will continue to expand ties with various partners to provide different communications, shopping, and entertainment experiences to the users.
The company already partnered with E-Mart, Lotte Mart, Samsung Card, top portal operator Naver and Bugs Music.’
