SEOUL, Feb. 10 (Korea Bizwire) — The most searched keyword on the South Korea’s popular online secondhand marketplace was bicycle last year, the app operator said Wednesday.
Last year’s most searched keyword was bicycle with about 27.22 million cases and it kept the position as the most searched keyword for seven straight quarters, according to Danggeun Market Inc., the company behind its namesake secondhand transaction app.
The ranking of the top search keywords showed clear differences by region.
In the posh Gangnam District of southern Seoul, which has the highest Danggeun Market usage rate among all districts, the number of searches for the term Chanel and Hermes ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, with 485,000 and 323,000 cases.
The term Louis Vuitton ranked third with 266,000 cases.
“Gangnam is an area congested with economically active salary workers and high-income earners with strong purchasing power. Transactions involving luxury items are active in this area, which is also positioned as a high-end shopping district,” an industry official said.
For the southern resort island of Jeju, bicycle and refrigerator top two keyword searches with 280,000 and 237,000 cases, followed by fishing with 228,000 cases.
For Gwanak District in Seoul, which has many single-person households, notebook PC and monitor ranked high at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
