SEOUL, July 19 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Monday that it will launch a project to realize a variety of tourist attractions in the metaverse.
Seoul, designated as a lead organization for this project by the Ministry of Science and ICT, will form a cross-regional consortium with North Gyeongsang Province and North Jeolla Province.
A total of 18 organizations, including private companies, will take part in the project to realize an XR-based immersive content service combining virtual reality (VR) with augmented reality (AR) technology by next year.
Seoul city government will create cultural and tourism content based on the theme of Korean-style houses and traditional culture with a focus on the Namsangol Hanok Village, also known as “A Village of Traditional Houses in the Namsan Valley.”
It will also host a graffiti wall contest in which participants can design graffiti in the metaverse space and exemplary works can be realized in a real-world environment.
