SEOUL, Jul. 4 (Korea Bizwire)‘Smart Station’ services, first tested last April at Gunja Station located along Seoul Subway Line 5, will be introduced to Line 2.

Seoul Transportation Corporation announced on Wednesday that it will turn all 50 stations on Line 2 into Smart Stations by next March

Smart Stations allow integrated management of all tasks at the station through 3D maps, IoT sensors, smart closed-circuit televisions, and other ICT technology.

The 3D maps offer a more accurate and solid depiction of the station than 2D maps, while smart CCTVs boast higher resolution than others.

The system is also capable of identifying objects, which can help prevent illegal trespassing and fires.

The corporation reported that Gunja Station, after introducing Smart Station services, was able to reduce the time to address various situations from 11 minutes to 3, enhancing safe and secure operations.
