SEOUL, Jan. 29 (Korea Bizwire) – The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on January 28 that it is initiating a ‘City-District Integrated Link Service,’ enabling the borrowing and returning of toys and childcare items from the Seoul Toy Library located in Daebang-dong, Dongjak-gu, across all 25 district toy libraries in Seoul.

The Seoul Toy Library, which first opened its doors in December 2001 at Euljiro 1-ga Station on Subway Line 2, becoming the nation’s first, relocated to the first floor of Space Sallim in November last year. It houses a total of 5,236 items, ranging from toys to childcare products like bouncers that are often expensive despite their short usage period.

Previously, users had to visit the library in person to borrow items, causing inconvenience for those living far away. Although a delivery service was available, it came with a potential shipping cost of up to 14,000 won for round trips, and items that were bulky or prone to damage were not available for loan.

With the new integrated service, users can now check for available items on the Seoul Toy Library website (https://seoultoy.or.kr) and place their orders. The requested items will be delivered in bulk to the district toy libraries on designated days, and borrowers can collect their items within three days, including the delivery day.

Kim Sun-soon, who heads the Women and Family Policy Office of Seoul, stated, “In light of the soaring childcare costs that make it difficult for families to afford such expenses, we’ve improved the borrowing and returning process to make the Seoul Toy Library more accessible. We will continue to listen to feedback from the community and adapt to the changing needs of our users to create a more child-friendly environment.”
