SEOUL, April 18 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul Metropolitan Government is currently mulling over a proposal to replace the congested Gimpo Gold Line’s amphibious bus with a much more efficient river bus. In line with its efforts to build a reliable and effective water transportation system, the city aims to introduce river buses along the Seoul-Gimpo Han River section.
According to city officials, the commute time to Yeouido would be cut down to a mere 20 minutes if commuters take a shuttle or local bus to the southern end of Hangju Bridge and transfer to a river bus. To make commuting even more accessible and convenient, the city plans to issue commuter passes and explore discounts for subway and bus transfers.
With the aim of finalizing the implementation plan soonest possible, the city is expediting the preparation process and is committed to starting river bus operations within a year. Each river bus will cost approximately 2 billion won and can accommodate up to 200 passengers per trip, providing a more eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to traditional modes of transportation.
