SEOUL, July 14 (Korea Bizwire) — With compressors employed widely in the manufacturing industry, SK Telecom Co. is gearing up to commercialize a smart compressor that is expected to boost efficiency.
The South Korea’s largest mobile carrier on Tuesday signed a business agreement with SungShin Compressor Co. and Soltech Co. to address the problems generated during the operation, maintenance and repair process at manufacturing plants using artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technology.
After tweaking its AI smart factory service ‘GrandView’ to be compatible with the smart compressors produced by SungShin Compressor, SK Telecom will release an upgraded service in September.
Soltech will be in charge of producing Internet of Things (IoT) devices to allow the smart compressors to collect facility data.
The new smart compressor equipped with GrandView is capable of monitoring facility information in real time, generating alarms for facility defects and outlier signals, and also offers remote control and AI-based pre-maintenance functions, thereby contributing to improving efficiency with regards to facility operation and maintenance.
