INCHEON, Aug. 2 (Korea Bizwire) — An LNG vessel built by the Incheon Port Authority (IPA) is attracting international attention for its energy efficiency and environmental friendliness.
According to IPA officials, the vessel, which the organization claims to be Asia’s very first LNG-fueled ship, received international attention at this year’s LNG Bunkering Conference held in Singapore.
During the conference, IPA officials shared know-how and information regarding the management and construction of the LNG-fueled vessel ‘Econuri’.

Measuring 38 meters in height and 8 meters in width, the 200-ton Econuri can accommodate up to 57 passengers with a cruising speed of speed of 27.7 kilometers per hour.
Since the ship was first launched in the summer of 2013, more than 9,000 people have been on board for 395 journeys.

Compared to diesel-fueled vessels, the LNG vessel offers fuel cost savings of 24 percent and drastically reduced emissions of nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide.
Following its participation at the LNG Bunkering 2017 Conference, the IPA is scheduled to hold a seminar later this year on the success of the Econuri and the eco-friendly policy the organization pursues.
