SEOUL, Feb. 18 (Korea Bizwire) – A specialist hospital managed by Seoul National University Hospital, one of South Korea’s top medical centers, opened in the United Arab Emirates, South Korea’s health ministry said Wednesday.

It marked the first time that a South Korean hospital has won a consignment contract for a foreign hospital, the ministry said, adding that about 170 South Korean doctors and nurses are working in the hospital.

South Korean Health Minister Moon Hyung-pyo expressed hope at the opening ceremony that a successful opening of the hospital would help further expand the presence of South Korean medical service in the world, it said.

The 248-bed hospital specializes in the treatment of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, neurological disorders as well as other diseases, the ministry said.
