GEOCHANG, June 22 (Korea Bizwire) — The ‘Stairway to Heaven’ has recently become a prominent feature at Geochang Changpowon, a renowned destination for flower enthusiasts.
This well-maintained ecological garden has garnered attention and is poised to join the ranks of Suncheon Bay National Garden and Taehwa River National Garden as the third national garden.
Geochang Changpowon is an expansive waterfront ecological park, spanning an impressive park area of 424,823 square meters, which is equivalent to 66 soccer fields.
Originally a submerged region resulting from the construction of the Hapcheon Dam, this ecological park was established to safeguard the river’s water quality.
It aligns with the water fluctuations of the Hwanggang River, a national river, while simultaneously serving as a catalyst for local economic revitalization through the creation of tourism resources.
During the spring season, visitors are greeted by the mesmerizing sight of over one million irises forming a stunning colony. As summer arrives, lotuses, water lilies, and hydrangeas reach their peak, adorning the park with vibrant colors.
In the autumn, chrysanthemums and the changing foliage attract numerous visitors, while winter showcases the tropical botanical garden and its 145,200 square meters of wetlands surrounded by mallow and reed fields. These features offer a diverse array of attractions throughout the four seasons.
