Taekwondo Performed During NFL Halftime Show


SEOUL, Sept. 27 (Korea Bizwire)Taekwondo, a Korean martial art, was performed during the halftime show of a National Football League (NFL) game in Washington, D.C.

A group of taekwondo teams from Tongmyong University, Angel Peace Art Group, and the U.S. martial arts academy MBA staged a joint performance during the halftime show of the NFL match between the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles held at the former’s home stadium on Sunday (local time).

During this event held by invitation of the NFL, a group of taekwondo masters wearing white uniforms and black belts showed off high-level breaking performances and demonstrated ‘poomsae,’ a defined pattern of defense-and-attack motion, drawing applause from audience members.


The Tongmyong University taekwondo team will stay in the U.S. until Oct. 3.

During their stay, they will promote taekwondo through performances in a square in front of the Lincoln Memorial, one of Washington’s landmarks, and at an elementary school there.

The students have also been invited by the National Basketball Association (NBA) to hold a taekwondo performance in March 2023.
