SEOUL, July 23 (Korea Bizwire)With the onset of the vacation season, the so-called ‘workation,’ referring to working from a vacation destination, is spreading throughout the business world.

As a contactless working environment is becoming a new norm in the pandemic era, companies are allowing employees to work not only from home but also from vacation destinations.

At the forefront of these efforts are tech companies and startups.

Not only are online and contactless means of working possible for these businesses, but they have also adjusted well into a work-from-home environment since the start of the pandemic.

Line Plus Corp., a mobile service subsidiary for South Korean internet conglomerate Naver Corp., introduced a flexible work policy that allows employees to work from Jeju, Gangneung and other regions away from the greater Seoul area for 30 days or more.

Jobis & Villains, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based tax accounting startup, allowed a two-week special vacation for all staff last month, after which the company offered an additional one-week workation.

Travel platform operator Yanolja also recently introduced a remote work policy including workations.
