SEOUL, Aug. 18 (Korea Bizwire)With a growing number of South Koreans tapping into online transactions due to the coronavirus pandemic, a recent survey has revealed that preferred mobile applications for online transactions differ by age groups.

Market researcher Nielsen KoreanClick reported Monday that Coupang topped usage among all age groups.

The rankings that follow, however, differed by age groups. Among teens and 20-somethings, for instance, shopping malls specializing in fashion and beauty were more popular than general shopping malls.

Among teens, Musinsa, an online fashion store, and Zigzag, a fashion platform for women’s fashion and accessories, ranked second and third after Coupang.

Among 20-somethings, Zigzag ranked third, while Musinsa took sixth place.

This pattern drastically changed among those in their 30s. Eight out of the top 10 most popular online shopping platforms were general stores that sell all categories of goods and services.

Those in their 40s to 60s also tended to rely primarily on general online shopping malls, including home shopping apps such as Home & Shopping and Lotte Home Shopping.
