AUSTIN, Texas, July 2, 2014 (Korea Bizwire)–Texas Health and Science University is pleased to announce today that  the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS),  has approved the expansion of its scope of accreditation to include the  Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program. This affirms the  consent given by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and  Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), the University’s programmatic accreditor for  the doctoral program.

President  Lin continues, “This confirms the place of Acupuncture and Oriental  Medicine within the modern higher education system, and establishes this  profession as an important academic and research discipline. Our  administrative staff have worked hard to reach this new milestone.”  Texas Health and Science University is the first ACICS-accredited  institution in Texas to offer a doctoral-level program, and first in the  nation the first to offer an ACICS-approved doctorate in Acupuncture and  Oriental Chinese Medicine. The program is set to launch in September  2014.

Texas Health and Science University is a comprehensive,  for-profit educational institution. The University was formerly the  Texas College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the first school of  Acupuncture in the State of Texas, established in 1990. The school  offers Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees in Acupuncture and Oriental  Medicine and Master of Business Administration and MBA in Healthcare  Management degrees. The University also offers a 70-Hour Acudetox  Training Program for licensed health care professionals approved by the  Texas Medical Board, and English as a Second Language certificate  programs. The University has been accredited by the Accreditation  Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) since 1996. It  is also the first institution in the nation to be awarded accreditation  for Master and Doctor degrees in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine by  the 100-year-old Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and  Schools (ACICS). Headquartered in Austin, Texas, USA with an auxiliary  classroom in San Antonio, the University offers a Dual Degree program at  the master level with Zhejiang Chinese Medical University and has sister  school relationships with seven institutions in Taiwan and China.
