SEOUL, Dec. 16 (Korea Bizwire) — The U.S. state of Georgia has declared Nov. 22 as Kimchi Day.
A ceremony to Georgia State’s Kimchi Day took place at its capitol on Wednesday (local time), with Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Korean-American representatives in attendance.
Kimchi Day was first introduced in South Korea in 2020 with the aim of promoting the benefits of kimchi.
The designation of Kimchi Day in Georgia was followed by the same proclamation in California, Virginia, New York, Michigan, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Georgia is home to a Kia Corp.’s manufacturing plant and an SK Innovation Co.’s battery plant, as well as other Korean companies.
