SEOUL, Nov. 15 (Korea Bizwire)The United States’ trade watchdog has dismissed allegations that South Korean chipmaker SK hynix Inc. violated patents of California-based chipmaker Netlist Inc., industry sources said Wednesday.

Through an initial determination, U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) concluded that the South Korean chipmaker’s server memory products did not violate section 337 of the Tariff Act, according to the sources.

That section of the act allows the U.S. to slap an import ban on foreign products that have violated the intellectual property of U.S. entities.

Netlist’s claim that SK hynix had infringed its rights was made in September 2016.

In a separate move, Netlist also filed a new case to the ITC last month, claiming SK hynix’s memory module products violated its patents.
