DAEGU, July 17 (Korea Bizwire) – Are you tired of hot and humid summer? How about getting some relief from the relentless heat wave by enjoying free chicken and beer at a chimac (chicken and beer) festival?
The Daegu Metropolitan City, hometown of Korean fried chicken, is now staging a “2014 Daegu Chimac Festival” from July 16 to 20 at Duryu Park within the city to offer flavor of the all-time Korean favorite combination of chicken and beer. The city began the annual festival since last year to give the festivity in which all citizens can unite with the common theme of chicken and beer.
By learning from the trials and errors happened in the last festival such as the process to check the age of the alcoholic beverage buyer which took more than an hour and lack of enough chicken and beer free samples, the organizers plan this time to prepare plentiful of free sample chicken and beer for the participants and organized the festival for the participants to enjoy fully with other various events.
During the festival, the city will hold chimac parties by inviting famous bands and idol groups like Nobrain, Bulhandang, Stella, MIB, Orange Caramel, and After School to spice up the atmosphere. Besides, it plans to inform the history of Korean chicken originated from the city with opening of booths.
Along with the festivity, the city will prepare counseling booths for chicken franchise start-ups and organize the meeting places for the chicken and beer-related industry players.
An official at the Daegu city government said, “Following the last year’s festival, our chimac festival will be held second time this year. We hope the chicken-and-beer festival could become one of the world’s famous fiestas representing Korea through continuous development and active participation.”
