SEOUL, Oct. 25 (Korea Bizwire)South Korea’s Vice Defense Minister Kim Seon-ho will attend an international defense forum in China next week for talks on regional security, defense officials in Seoul said Wednesday.

Kim, who took office last week, will take part in the Xiangshan Forum, which will run from Sunday through Tuesday, in Beijing, according to the officials.

He is expected to meet counterparts from other participating countries on the margins of the forum for talks on the security situation on the Korean Peninsula and Seoul’s defense policies.

The annual forum, which launched in 2006, last took place in person in 2019 as the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of high-level events in China in recent years.

The U.S. Department of Defense has said it will send a delegation to this year’s forum in a sign of military engagement between Washington and Beijing.
