SEOUL, April 8 (Korea Bizwire) — A significant percentage of young adults who haven’t received any COVID-19 vaccinations have no plans to take them in the future.
The National Youth Policy Institute conducted a survey of 4,347 teenagers and young adults between 9 and 24 years of age, in which 16.4 percent had been vaccinated for COVID-19.
Among those who hadn’t been vaccinated, only 66.9 percent said they planned to get vaccinated in the near future.
One-third of young adults, in other words, have no intentions of getting vaccinated for COVID-19.
Sorted by age, respondents who do not intend to get vaccinated accounted for 49.4 percent of those between 9 and 11 years of age, 38.4 percent of those between 12 and 14 years of age, 27 percent of those between 15 and 17 years of age and 16.4 percent of those between 18 and 24 years of age.
Asked about why they didn’t intend to get vaccinated, a majority of 51.2 percent had concerns about the side effects of the vaccines, followed by ‘no particular reason’ (31.1 percent), ‘cannot trust the effects of the vaccines’ (20 percent) and ‘following quarantine restrictions is safe enough’ (11.8 percent).
