MALAGA, SPAIN, Jul. 21 (Korea Bizwire) – Malaga company Ortoplus, headed by Jesús García Urbano, and the Universidad de Málaga (UMA) have created the first 3D software for invisible orthodontics in Spain. It is a pioneering system that allows the dentist to show the patient a 3D simulation of the result of the treatment before it has even started.

Nearly 1,000 specialists are already using this management tool, which allows the visualization of the final models and establishes a direct relationship between the laboratory and the doctor, thereby reducing waiting time. This means that the system reduces waiting times and facilitates online management of patients’ clinical cases.

The tool, called LineDock, was developed by Ortoplus and UMA research group Sistemas de Información Cooperativos in collaboration with the group Inteligencia Computacional y Análisis de Imágenes.

Specifically, it is used in Alineadent invisible orthodontics, the first orthodontics created and distributed by a Spanish laboratory. As explained by Ortoplus, the company from Malaga that has been focusing on the development and improvement of invisible orthodontics for the last five years, a set of transparent splints gradually corrects the malposition of teeth by means of 3D software and printing technology, which is unique in Andalusia.

“Our team works constantly on improving the tools used in our Alineadent invisible orthodontic treatment,” explained company director Jesús García Urbano, who highlighted the collaboration with UMA to continue improving and updating the system.
It is a system that “offers a genuine benefit to the patient and also to the specialist, since, as it is a completely Spanish product, both the costs and production times of the splints are reduced,” he explained.

For his part, UMA computing professor Carlos Rossi stated that the academic institution “seeks to use the project to consider real problems in society and provide a solution for them.”

He also added that in this software “the entire architecture of the system, which is quite complex, was created using 3D visualization techniques and also by employing information system integration techniques.”

Malaga company Ortoplus boasts one of the biggest laboratories in the country with more than 30 specialists and a broad range of products for orthodontics.
