8 in 10 Supercars Owned by Corporate Bodies: Data

SEOUL, Feb. 6 (Korea Bizwire)The vast majority of supercars in South Korea, including vehicles produced by Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren, are owned by corporate bodies, industry data showed Sunday.

According to Carisyou Data Lab, 75.3 percent of 4,192 supercars in the country were registered as corporate-owned vehicles as of December last year.

The data showed that 1,475 out of 2,099 units of Ferrari, 1,371 out of 1,698 units of Lamborghini, and 313 out of 395 units of McLaren models were corporate-owned.

At 87.2 percent, most car purchases in the country are made by private individuals, with only 12.8 percent coming from corporate bodies. In the case of supercars, however, corporate bodies accounted for a majority of purchases.

Sorted by vehicles priced over 300 million won (US$239,400), the most popular vehicle was the Bentley Flying Spur (1,199 units), followed by the Bentley Continental (941 units), Lamborghini Urus (797 units), Bentley Bentayga (584 units) and Rolls Royce Ghost (482 units).

Sorted by vehicles priced between 200-300 million won, the most popular vehicles were the Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class (4,577 units), Land Rover Range Rover (4,216 units), Mercedes-Benz G-Class (4,142 units) and Porsche 911 (3,531 units).
