SEOUL, Feb. 20 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean telecom giant KT Corp. said Tuesday it will open the first virtual reality (VR) theme park in Seoul, with the aim of becoming a leader in the burgeoning sector.
VRIGHT — located in Sinchon, western Seoul — will open its doors to the public in early March and provide visitors with various VR contents that merge with simulated three-dimensional experiences.
KT said visitors can watch VR videos and enjoy car racing, bobsleighing, shooting, space travel and a variety of other sports and leisure activities, KT said.
The theme park will be run in cooperation with GS Retail, the operator of GS25 convenience stores, company officials said.
The company said it will offer a 30 percent discount to customers visiting the facility during weekdays in March.
KT said it plans to establish similar facilities throughout Seoul offering unmatched VR technology with the aim of generating 10 billion won (US$9.2 million) in revenues in the sector by 2020.
