SEOUL, April 4 (Korea Bizwire) — A number of post offices in South Korea will provide coding courses for free.
Korea Post said on Tuesday that select post offices across the country will participate in its ‘Small University’ scheme, including Sangam Digital Post Office, Anyang Mail Center, Jochiwon Post Office, Gwangju Chungjangno Post Office, Busan Gupo-dong Post Office, and Jeju Post Office.
Each location will provide a coding course along with other computer courses and paper craft courses, with plans to expand the courses to a total of 100 locations during the first half of this year.
In March, Korea Post launched a free experience center for coding and 3D printing named ‘Teen Teen’ for children and adolescents at its main branch in Jung District in Seoul.
Kang Sung-joo, the director of Korea Post, said he hopes post offices become more youth-friendly spaces.

A growing number of organizations and companies are providing free coding courses in South Korea, as middle schools will be required to teach children software development from this year.
Last month, LG CNS announced plans to hold a total of 30 free coding classes this year with 3,500 middle school students.
