SEOUL, Nov. 27 (Korea Bizwire) – Jin Ramen from Ottogi Co., a South Korean food company, will become South Korea’s first food product ever to be invited to an Indian home shopping program.
Jin Ramen will be up for sale on Home Shop 18, India’s largest home shopping channel, starting this Thursday.
Home Shop 18, with major shareholders including the Reliance Group — one of India’s largest conglomerates — is broadcasted throughout India in 22 languages.
On the upcoming show, an Indian chef will be invited to cook the noodles. Ramen pot giveaways and other discount promotions will also take place.
Ottogi developed vegetable noodles to target the large vegetarian population in the Indian market. The company began exporting the product to India in March.
“While there were precedents of Korean health products sold on Indian home shopping channels, this is the first time that a Korean food product has been sold,” said Hong Ki-young, head of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency Business Center in Mumbai.
