SIHEUNG, Oct. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — Surfers at Siheung’s Wave Park, located in the city 25 kilometers southwest of Seoul, were seen defying the chilly autumn weather as they enjoyed an artificial wave pool that opened on Thursday.
There were some 400 visitors on the first day.
Riding their surfboards, some 50 surfers did not hesitate to jump into the waves, which are up to 2.4 meters high.
The wave park seemed less populated due to its relatively immense size.
“The wave pool’s water temperature is maintained between 15-25 degrees Celsius using waste heat from a nearby power plant,” said a source familiar with the wave park.
