SEOUL, Jan. 13 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean logistics giant CJ Logistics Corp. announced on Tuesday that it will launch a new service that will offer jobs to the hearing-impaired.
As part of its creating shared value (CSV) initiative, the company plans to launch the ‘Blue Parcel Delivery Service,’ in which a hearing-impaired will deliver parcels from distribution bases within apartment complexes to customer’s door.
This service will be available first at an apartment complex of about 2,100 households located in Yeonsu District, Incheon.
Five hearing-impaired delivery workers will be responsible for managing two buildings each and will deliver about 150 parcels on average per day.
“We established a stable system through a trial operation of delivering 100,000 parcels from July 2020,” CJ Logistics said.
“Since the practice of non-face-to-face communication using text messages is prevalent, hearing impairment causes almost no inconvenience in light of customer service.”
