DAEJEON, Nov. 5 (Korea Bizwire) — The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) is participating in an international symposium to introduce high-tech wearable robot technology.
On Nov. 13, a research team from KAIST will be competing at the CYBATHLON 2020 Global Edition, an international contest for robot-assisted competitors with disabilities, to be held in Daejeon.
The team, with its WalkON Suit 4 jointly developed by Yonsei Severance Hospital Medical School, will compete in the contest. The WalkON Suit 4 is a wearable exoskeleton suit designed to assist the motion of paralyzed individuals.
Lighter than previous models, the suit allows the user to walk 40 meters per minute, which is similar to the walking speed of those without disabilities (2 to 4 km/h).
