SEOUL, Feb. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Glovis Co. has developed an exclusive container that enables dead electric vehicle (EV) batteries to be transported in an economically efficient manner.
The logistics unit of Hyundai Motor Group announced on Wednesday that it acquired a patent for a Platform Container that is designed to transport a variety of retired EV batteries of different shapes in a single container.
The dead EV battery market growing steadily since dead EV batteries can be reused in various areas, including EV charging stations.
The company’s integrated logistics research center said that it accelerated efforts to register the patent since the system that has mandated the return of batteries to municipal governments has been abolished starting from the EVs rolled out this year.
The newly patented container features an adjustable rail-type structure that enables users to freely adjust the size of the container itself.
Hyundai Glovis said that it can be loaded with different shaped batteries used in various EVs, adding that it would serve as the nation’s first exclusive platform for dead EV batteries.
