UIJEONGBU, Sept. 29 (Korea Bizwire) — Gyeonggi Province is introducing its first double-decker electric bus, offering an eco-friendly alternative to conventional internal combustion engine buses.
The provincial government announced Tuesday that it will deploy three double-decker electric buses on a public bus route between Pocheon and Jamsil, Seoul, starting on October 1.
The new double-decker bus, which will be manufactured domestically, can accommodate up to 70 passengers with 11 and 59 seats on the lower and upper levels, respectively.
It has been designed as a low-floor bus for the convenience of disabled persons and other groups with less accessibility. The bus’s first floor comes with three foldable seats to accommodate up to two wheelchairs.
The bus offers individual lights, air conditioner vents, USB charging stations and other convenience facilities.
The province plans to deploy a total of 38 double-decker buses on 13 bus routes across seven cities and counties by the end of this year.
