SEOUL, July 22 (Korea Bizwire) — LG Chem Ltd., South Korea’s leading chemical maker, is making forays into the sustainable materials market through the export of its first bio-based phenol and acetone.
The company announced on Thursday that it will export its first phenol and acetone products made of biomaterials such as waste vegetable oil.
These products are certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS, the global international certification system for eco-friendly materials.
The first shipments of phenol and acetone will be 4,000 tons and 1,200 tons, respectively, and they will be delivered to a German chemical firm in July and August.
This will mark the nation’s largest single-export volume that has been certified by the ISCC PLUS.
LG Chem’s phenol and acetone products that will be shipped from the company’s plant in Daesan, South Chungcheong Province will be used at a German chemical firm’s Chinese and Thailand factories.
