SEOUL, Jan. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — The worldwide popularity of K-pop is pushing global luxury brands to reach out to Korean celebrities.
Jimin of K-pop super group BTS was recently selected to become Christian Dior’s brand ambassador.
Another BTS member J-Hope participated in the Louis Vuitton Men’s Autumn-Winter 2023 Show last Thursday in Paris, France.
And BIGBANG’s Taeyang became the first South Korean man to be chosen as a global ambassador for French brand Givenchy.
Luxury companies have also come calling for members of new girl groups.
Three member of rookie girl group NewJeans — Hanni, Danielle and Hyein — have been chosen as ambassadors for Gucci, Burberry and Louis Vuitton, respectively.
An Yu-jin of girl group Ive has been selected as South Korea’s official ambassador for Italian luxury brand Fendi.
“As consumers of luxury products become younger, the demand for younger brand ambassadors is increasing,” an official from a luxury brand said.
