CHANGNYEONG, April 17 (Korea Bizwire) — Changnyeong-gun in Gyeongsangnam-do is expanding the Upo Wetland Protection Area to efficiently preserve and prevent damage to Upo Wetland, which has a well-preserved ecosystem.
The Ministry of Environment designated 8.56 million square meters of Upo Wetland as a wetland protection area in August 1999, and now plans to expand it by designating 265,000㎡ around Upo Wetland as surrounding management areas. Upo Wetland, the largest inland wetland in Korea, has a well-preserved ecosystem and abundant biodiversity.
