SEOUL, May 21 (Korea Bizwire) — Travelers eager to enjoy the peak summer vacation season are rushing to book flights as the world emerges from the long COVID-19 tunnel. Japan, Vietnam, and Saipan are particularly popular destinations, with high booking rates for flights.
Sapporo in Japan, known for its cool summer, has a flight reservation rate in the mid-80s for late July to early August, according to Jeju Air. Okinawa, a unique Japanese island resort, also has a reservation rate in the low 70s. Saipan, Hanoi, and Vientiane have reservation rates in the late 60s and mid-60s, respectively.
Sapporo, Osaka in Japan, and Da Nang in Vietnam top TAIWAY’s peak summer bookings, with current bookings around 50% for late July and early August. Short- and medium-haul flights are favored due to rising airfares.
Airlines are increasing and reopening flights to meet the surge in summer travel demand. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport aims to restore international flight numbers to 88% of 2019′s level by September, anticipating full capacity for popular destinations by July.
