SEOUL, Aug. 24 (Korea Bizwire) — SK Telecom Co., South Korea’s top wireless carrier, said Wednesday it will unveil a strategy involving the integration of its large language model (LLM) with models from its partner companies.
The company aims to offer industry-specific LLMs that enable the unique features and advantages of LLMs to be realized based on demand from businesses and public institutions.
This month, SK Telecom introduced the foundational corporate model of its Korean language-based LLM called ‘A.’ and is currently involved in the process of learning and optimizing it for client companies.
Furthermore, the company has collaborated with U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) company Anthropic and local startup Konan Technologies to utilize their respective LLMs.
Anthropic’s LLM is capable of processing data inputs comprising up to 75,000 words (100,000 tokens), whereas Konan Technologies’ LLM boasts a considerable amount of Korean language data.
SK Telecom’s primary objective is to establish a commanding presence in the market for deployable Korean language-based LLMs, primarily with its ‘A.’ LLM.
In the cloud market, which is anticipated to be shaped by competition driven by exceptionally large AI models, the company intends to leverage the Anthropic LLM.
Particularly noteworthy is SK Telecom’s ongoing negotiation with Anthropic to integrate LLM functionalities into its core business-to-business (B2B) services.
The company plans to commence the offering of this integrated service starting in the fourth quarter of this year, following the completion of the integration of functionalities.
