SEOUL, Sept. 25 (Korea Bizwire) – Among apartment residents over the age of 60, close to 50 percent believe their life is more important than that of their children and grandchildren.
On Sunday, Focus Media Korea, the operator of Elevator TV, unveiled the results of a survey of 229 elderly individuals over 60 residing in apartment complexes where Elevator TV is installed, conducted in collaboration with Gallup Korea in April and May.
Among the respondents, 47 percent said that their lives were more important than those of their children and grandchildren, while 52 percent said that they felt younger than their actual age. Additionally, 58 percent expressed plans to travel abroad within the next year.
In response to a question about the types of sports they engaged in during the past year, hiking ranked first at 45 percent, followed by golf at 15 percent, swimming at 12 percent, yoga at 11 percent and walking at 7 percent.
As for post-retirement economic activities, 36 percent mentioned pensions or financial earnings. The next highest preference was starting a company or becoming self-employed at 31 percent, followed by reemployment at 20 percent, part-time employment at 10 percent, and support from children at 3 percent.
Additionally, 62 percent of the respondents said they order food through delivery platforms, while 73 percent enjoy watching YouTube videos.
