SEOUL, Nov. 27 (Korea Bizwire) — Euisun Chung, chairman of South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group, has been named the auto industry’s leader of the year by U.S. magazine Automotive News, according to the group on Monday.
Chung was given the most prestigious honor among 38 key figures within the global automotive industry included in the publication’s 2023 Automotive News All-Stars list announced on Sunday.
Founded in 1925, Automotive News is a news outlet specializing in the motor industry with a global outreach. Through rigorous assessment and evaluation by its editorial team, the publication annually announces a list of around top 30 global automotive industry figures.
Automotive News described Hyundai Motor Group as having “blossomed into an industry innovator” and credited Chung’s “vision and pivot toward the future” as part of the group’s success.
The magazine said Chung was “putting the world’s third-largest auto group on the map for electric vehicles and hydrogen power, in addition to luxury cars and purpose-built vehicles for fleets of future pod cars.”
