SEOUL, Jun. 24 (Korea Bizwire) – The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) announced on June 23 that it is distributing multilingual safety and health educational materials to help foreign workers better understand industrial accidents and work more safely.
In response to the growing number of foreign workers in various industries, particularly shipbuilding, where serious accidents have been on the rise, KOSHA has translated educational videos into 16 languages. These videos cover prevention of common workplace accidents such as welding fires and asphyxiation in confined spaces.
The agency has also developed nine types of Shipbuilding Safety Work Guidelines specifically tailored for foreign workers. These guidelines detail safe working methods for key operations in the shipbuilding industry, addressing the sector’s increasing reliance on foreign labor and the concurrent rise in major accidents.
All educational materials developed by KOSHA are accessible through various platforms, including the agency’s official website, YouTube channel, the Media Field Delivery service (media.kosha.or.kr), and the Safety and Health Crisis Escape mobile application.
Looking ahead to the second half of the year, KOSHA plans to translate four types of Machinery and Equipment Safety Work Guidelines into 16 languages. These will cover commonly used industrial equipment such as forklifts and conveyor belts.
To further enhance comprehension of safety rules among foreign workers, the agency will create and distribute additional visual aids. These include Illustrated Safety and Health Posters and Safety and Health Sign Pictograms, which will be disseminated primarily in the shipbuilding industry.
