SEOUL, Jan. 19 (Korea Bizwire) — LG Electronics said Sunday it will release its first bathroom-specific air quality management product this week, expanding its premium home appliance lineup into a space increasingly shaped by concerns over hygiene and indoor air quality.

The new product, the LG PuriCare Bath Air System, will go on sale Monday and is designed to automatically regulate temperature, humidity and ventilation in bathrooms, the company said.

Equipped with real-time sensors, the system switches operating modes depending on conditions inside the bathroom. When temperatures drop, it activates a warm-air function, while elevated humidity triggers airflow and ventilation to reduce moisture. The unit automatically enters standby mode once the temperature and humidity reach preset comfort levels.

The product features a dual-exhaust structure intended to improve air circulation efficiency and accelerate ventilation compared with conventional single-fan systems. The design also prevents outside air and odors from flowing back into the bathroom when the system is not in operation.

LG added a “body care” function that allows users to dry off after showering, with airflow direction adjustable via remote control or a smartphone application.

To enhance hygiene, the system incorporates the company’s UVnano technology, which LG says can sterilize up to 99.99 percent of bacteria on the internal fan. The magnetic filter panel can be removed and washed with water, while on-screen alerts notify users when cleaning is needed.

“By integrating technologies from our premium appliance lineup, we aim to deliver a differentiated customer experience that allows people to maintain a clean and comfortable bathroom environment year-round,” said Bae Jeong-hyun, head of LG Electronics’ SAC business division.

The launch reflects LG’s broader strategy to apply its air-care technologies beyond living rooms and kitchens, as demand grows for specialized indoor climate solutions across the home.
