INCHEON, South Korea, Dec. 6, 2013 (Korea Bizwire) – The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) opened its Songdo liaison office on Wednesday, December 4, following the opening of a new World Bank office and the opening of the United Nation’s Green Climate Fund (GCF) in Songdo, Incheon City.
Mr. Song Young Gil, Mayor of the Incheon Metropolitan City, Mr. Lee Jong Cheol, Commissioner of the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ), and Mr. Howard Bamsey, Director-General of GGGI signed a framework memorandum for the new facility.
GGGI will use its Songdo office as the designated venue for international cooperation and coordination with multilateral organizations, including the Green Climate Fund (GCF), as well as for specialized training and capacity-building activities, and high-level governance activities. GGGI envisions working closely with organizations that have complementary objectives in promoting green growth and sustainable development.
Mayor Song Young Gil said, “The Incheon Metropolitan City seeks to support GGGI, the GCF and the World Bank to work together and build partnerships to create synergies. I believe that sustainable development is a critical factor of growth and progress and can directly and indirectly affect most of the economic issues we currently face.”
IFEZ Commissioner Lee Jong Cheol said, “Incheon Free Economic Zone seeks to work closely with GGGI to promote the global green future.”
